Rest: Retreats and Days of Reflection

Retreats and days of reflection offer you a chance to pause and take a deep breath. For just a day or two, you can step away from your hectic life on campus to reflect on who you are, who God is, how God knows and loves you, and how to respond to that love.

Nature retreat

Explore the wonders of God’s creation while hiking, stargazing and sitting around a campfire with friends during the weekend nature retreat.

Retreats and days of reflection are also an opportunity to meet new people and find support for living a spiritual, faith-filled life. Diverse in focus, setting and length, campus ministry retreats are spiritually refreshing and rooted in the teachings of St. Ignatius, the founder of the Jesuits.

Medical School Retreat

Life in medical school can seem all-consuming, but there is more to your life. You wonder how you will do it all. You want to grow spiritually. You anticipate having a family life, and you need time for a social life and for quiet. How do you integrate all of this into the person you will be as a physician? Spend this overnight retreat with your peers and with staff members reflecting together on the relationship between your life and your work — your vocation.

A Fresh Look Retreat

Friday-Sunday, Sept. 21-23, 2018
Manresa Retreat Center
Cost: $25

If you're new to SLU as a first-year student, this retreat is specifically created and designed for you. Through community building activities and story sharing, this retreat provides you a chance to take a fresh look at your life: who you have been, and who God desires you to be in your future. Within this retreat community, you will also explore the concept of gratitude, and the ways that you -- through a variety of approaches to prayer -- can encounter and converse with God in everyday life.

This retreat is led by a team of selected sophomore leaders; these leaders will draw upon their own faith journeys, personal experiences, insights and lessons they've learned to help you make sense of the early moments of your life as a college student.

For more information, contact Campus Minister Jim Roach at - we hope you can join us!

Nature Retreat

Friday-Sunday, Oct. 5-7, 2018
Babler State Park
Cost: $25

Explore the wonders of God’s creation while hiking, stargazing and sitting around a campfire with friends during this weekend retreat in the Missouri woodlands. Experience peace and rejuvenation as you pray, reflect and rest in the beauty of nature, and consider the ethics of care for our common home and for those whose environment is fragile and at risk.

If you are searching for spiritual connections in your life, but don’t necessarily align with organized religious traditions, this retreat may be the one for you. It fits the world-affirming, sacramental imagination of the Christian tradition and includes an optional Catholic Mass but is meant to be user-friendly for students who are not at home in organized religious settings.
