Melinda CarlsonMelinda Carlson
Director of Housing, Residence Life and Student Involvement

Melinda Carlson earned both her Bachelors in Education and her Master’s  in College Student Personnel from Eastern Illinois University. She has over 25 years of experience in higher education and began working at SLU in 2013.

Her responsibilities include providing the overall direction and leadership for student involvement.

Cheryl began working at SLU in February 1999; spending her first several years in the Housing and Residence Life Office before moving to the Student Involvement Center. Cheryl  loves working with students, seeing them as they enter SLU as Freshmen and watching their growth into Seniors throughout their educational journey at SLU.  Her favorite color is purple.

Her responsibilities include:

  • Greeting guests of the Student Involvement Center and answering their queries
  • Overall upkeep and managing the Student Involvement Center Suite
  • Supervising student workers/office assistants 

Carlie LavinCarlie Lavin

Carlie is a proud alumna of Saint Louis University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations from the College of Arts and Sciences. After graduating from SLU, Carlie attended Iowa State University where she received an M.Ed. in Higher Education Student Affairs, with a focus on Leadership and Learning.
In case her love for SLU wasn't a good enough reason for her favorite colors to be Blue and White, Carlie is also an alumna of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She currently serves as a volunteer for the international organization.
Carlie returned to SLU as a Program Coordinator in August 2017. Her responsibilities include:

  • Advising the Student Activities Board
  • Co-advising the Involvement Ambassadors
  • Facilitating the Billikens Lead Program
  • Supervision of the Billikens After Dark graduate assistant
  • Supervision of student workers

 James McLendonJames McLendon
Program Coordinator for Multicultural advising and Leadership

James earned his Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications and Master of Public Administration and Policy Analysis from Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville. He is a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and serves his chapter in a volunteer advisor role. He began working in the Student Involvement Center in July of 2017.

His responsibilities include:

  • Advisement of the Cultural and Identity Based Chartered Student Organizations
  • Advisement of the Multicultural Greek Council

Caitlyn WestfallCaitlyn Westfall
Program Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life

 Caitlyn received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with minors in Leadership Studies and Criminal Justice from McKendree University and a Master of Science degree in College Student Personnel from Western Illinois University. It is easy to see why Caitlyn bleeds purple and gold! Caitlyn is a proud member of Sigma Sigma Sigma as she was a charter member of her chapter, and currently serves in a volunteer role with the national organization. She began working in the Student Involvement Center in July of 2016, and is beginning to bleed blue and white too.

Her responsibilities include:

  • Direct oversight of the Panhellenic and IFC communities
  • Advising both Panhellenic and IFC councils as well as the chapters within 
  • IFC and Panhellenic Recruitment
  • Supporting the advancement of the fraternal community as a whole
  • Supervising student workers

 Nyoke DumbaNyoke Dumba
 Graduate Assistant for Multicultural  Advising and Leadership

Nyoke received her Bachelor of Art's Degree in Biology with a minor in Psychology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Throughout her undergraduate career, Nyoke was a four-year student athlete in women's soccer, started the South Sudan Student Union Organization, mentored disadvantaged students through the S.A.V.E. Mentoring Program and volunteered with various organizations and communities around the Omaha metropolitan area. Nyoke is pursuing a Masters of Public Health in Global Health and Epidemiology.

Her responsibilities include advisement of the Cultural and Identity Based Chartered Student Organizations.

Allison GoldasichAllison Goldasich

Allison earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management, with a minor in Accounting from Southern Illinois University. She is currently pursuing a Master of Health Administration. During her undergraduate career, she was involved in several organizations such as Student Leadership Honor Society, Student Healthcare Management Association, National Residence Hall Honorary, College of Applied Science and Arts Ambassadors, and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

Her responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with management of Chartered Student Organizations
  • Maintaining and promoting the SLU Groups system
  • Organizing the Fall and Winter SLU Involvement Fairs
  • Aiding with CSO budgets
  • Developing CSO leadership programs

 Abby MargulisAbby Margulis

Graduate Assistant for Fraternity and Sorority Life

Abby earned her Bachelor’s Degree of English Writing, with a minor in Media Communications from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. During undergrad, she was in the Media Fellows Honors Program, worked for the student newspaper, The DePauw, every semester and was involved with the Panhellenic community. She is a proud member of Delta Gamma and serves as a volunteer for the national organization. Prior to coming to Saint Louis University she interned for the National Panhellenic Council, Inc. and worked as the breaking news reporter at the Asheville Citizen-Times, which is part of the USA Today Network. She is currently working towards a Master of Arts Degree in Student Personnel Administration from Saint Louis University.

Her responsibilities include:

  • Advising the Panhellenic Council, as well as the chapters within
    Advising Order of Omega
  • Panhellenic Recruitment
  • Supporting the advancement of the fraternal community as a whole

Amanda MeiklejohnAmanda Meiklejohn

Amanda received her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology, with minors Human Health and Disease and Psychology from Indiana University - Bloomington. Throughout undergrad, Amanda was a member of Phi Mu, volunteered at Middle Way House (Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center) and Shalom (soup kitchen) Community Center. Amanda is pursuing a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology.

Her responsibilities include:

  • Primary adviser to Billikens After Dark (BAD)
  • Organizing #SLUinTheCity Events
  • Co-advising Involvement Ambassadors
  • Assisting with other leadership programs

 Michelle PeltierMichelle Peltier 
 Web and Media Coordinator

Michelle received her Bachelor's in History from Vassar College before pursuing a career in journalism, working as a researcher and producer at CBS News. More recently, she earned her Master's in Photojournalism from the University of Missouri. Her responsibilities include maintaining the quality and accuracy of all Student Development divisional web pages, working with colleagues to create compelling written and visual content to tell the story of the SLU student experience and advising student media organizations on campus.
